Special edition II starts off very well with another new scene of setsuna inspecting the remains of Lazarus base.
The Exia repair appears shortly after, looking absolutely Badass. See its model review: Mg exia ignition mode.
Nothing new in the repair scene, as tierra shows up on time to save setsuna and saji crossroad.
The red eye does not light up in the MG.
After setsuna spoke to lyle dylandy to recruit him, we see a whole new scene where lyle discussed with klaus about their plans. That filled up the gap in the anime which we do only knew about lyle till much later.
The A-Laws should have fled when 00 launched...
00 gundam's first appearance was slightly longer with some thoughts from tierra and the others about the new suit.
Allelujah's escape mission had no new scenes, but this time round we know more about sumeragi's tactics. In SE I, sumeragi's battle strategies were never explained.
The battle at the ocean got much emphasized this time, there is new scenes of the 4 gundams working together to take down the MA underwater.
Seravee did his part by pulling the entire MA out of Ptolemy II. See its Hg review :Hg 1/144 seravee review.
Gundam 00 make an epic out-of-the-water appearance.
Nothing new about the ballroom battle, arche gundam is as kick-ass as ever, fighting both 00 and seravee together. Hopes for a Mg Arche Gundam.
The 00 docking sequence remains largely unchanged.
Saji seems much stronger in the Special edition, because the meeting with katharon was left out and hence we do not see saji causing the massacre. Kinda weird to leave that out, since the main reason Saji stayed with celestial being was to atone for his sins.
For people who are clueless about the name of the gundam and the series.
The attack on memento mori remains unchanged.
Lyle proves to be a good shooter as well.
The end of the special edition II features a new scene of wang liu mei and regene regetta talking about the twin drives.
Ribbons also went to veda to talk to himself, as a bonus.
Conclusion:
The new scenes in the SE II are mostly at the beginning and ending of the film. The SE II is better paced than the first one since it is only about half of S2 of the anime.
The awesomes:
1. Sumeragi 's battle tactics were explained.
2. New scenes like lyle's conversation with klaus were well thought of.
3. Better pacing than the first one.
The not-so-awesomes:
1. Katharon's meeting and the massacre were left out.
2. No new scenes about alleujah. He had very little screen time in S2, and the Special edition could have added a few new scenes for him.
"Trans-Am!" is very catchy, huh?
