Gundam 00 Awakening of the trailblazers review (updated)

Spoilers alert!

Well, here we have it. the long awaited movie for the 00 series finale.  i must say i have extremely high expectations of the movie when i first saw its trailer on youtube. i was like OMG i must see this movie. The new suits look awesome, and many of our familiar characters and not just the meisters return. The 4 new gundams look epic and exciting.
But due to something call real life i wasn't able to see the film first thing when it came out. i heard some negative reviews and complains about aliens,etc. That didn't deter me from watching the film, as a gundam fan i had to see it for myself. And i did not regret it. In fact after watching the movie i bought the brave commander HG, see its review here. I did not went straight ahead to buy the Gundams because i am waiting for their MGs, or  1/100s at least. Well now 00Quanta MG is out and i may buy it soon. (still waiting for a quanta full burst or something like that)
The movie begins on a somewhat weird tone with the movie in the movie.(inception)

Pretty cool, i actually though it was real until i saw alejandro corner alive and kicking. cos we all know he died of blades overdose in S1, courtesy of Setsuna. Speaking of which he looks rather badass even in the movie within the movie.
Then came the guy we all thought will be real badass, veda's first acknowledged innovator. Descartes Shaman turned out to be over-hyped and died before any real contribution.

Oh well that was indeed my biggest disappointment. His death also meant that there is no 1v1 clash like exiaR2 vs O gundam. Which reminds me that ribbons almark appear in the movie as a clone, or clones. It was rather shocking to see the main antagonist from 00 appear out of nowhere.

Saji and louise 's participation in the movie was close to 0. Many people had much negative things to say, but i feel that that is actually better and more realistic. It will be very illogical and forced if  they had actually went to fight in mobile suits again, after what louise went through in 00. So i am very happy that they took a backseat this time round after saji rescued louise in s2. Actually saji is in the back seat of 00 gundam in s2 but never mind that.

And, tierra's Raphael gundam blew itself too early i think.

And yes, the harute and zabanya were amazing,in the movie. countless alien ESF butts were kicked, the grunts were certainly glad that they were not against the gundams this time. Zabanya's indiscrimate firing sure made my day, beating even the mighty freedom's multiple lockon system. So lets all keep our hopes up for zabanya MG.
 And hopefully harute and maybe raphael too.

And deaths that broke our hearts- Graham aker and Andrei smirnov sacrificed themselves for mankind. Actually i thought andrei will die in s2 after what he did. Anyway it was fitting for him to finally realise his mistakes and yeah, sergei will be proud.

How i felt the movie could have been better: More 00 Quanta action. I think it will be better if the movie is split into 2 parts. The first will end with raphael blowing itself up to save Setsuna. This will allow Descartes to actually be significant since he will then be one of the main chars in movie 1. movie 2 will of then be about the final confrontation. Then i am sure we will see more of 00Quanta since he will have more time to kick more ELS butts before his DBZ style instant transmission.
One final plus point i loved about the movie or just 00 series in general is the science behind it. the orbital elevators, the physics behind, the possibility of alien life outside earth. Yes it is indeed possible, or even likely that aliens do exist according to present science theories. Maybe that's why i am fine with the ESF theme. and yeah GN particles are slightly far-fetched but possible nonetheless. But i am not so sure if Gundam series in the future should continue this alien theme. The problem with aliens in the gundam world is that we are definitely going to support the human race in the fight and that will limit the depth of the story and what twist could there possibly be? Maybe halfway down the series it is suddenly revealed that the aliens are actually nice folks paying a diplomatic visit to earth?

The awesomes:
1. the 4 new Gundams
2. Graham Aker
3. Epic action scenes
4. There is some deeper meaning to the movie itself.

The not-so-awesome:
1. Descartes Shaman's very existence
2. Billy's new girlfriend ( i dun even want to talk about her)
3. Could have explained Aeolia's plan in more details
4. More action needed for 00 quanta.

In conclusion i still LOVED this movie. i will give it a 9/10. So please leave your comments of what you like or dislike about the movie.
