Reason i went to check this antique out is that i saw a pic of MG F91, and was very interested to find out for myself where that MS came from. I admit that i have rather low expectations for the movie due to its age and oh well i guess that was correct.
Spoilers Alert!
Ok, actually not much spoilers since the plot was horribly rushed and i ended up just focusing on F91's action. Hence i am not 100% sure about every single detail. Anyway a quick synopsis, our main character seabook (weird name) and his friends were living happily in the first 5mins or so for the film. Then their colony was attacked by MS and they ran around for survival. Of course seabook ended up in a Gundam, and he can pilot it very well despite being a young boy. Nothing new here, after all no grunts can hope to beat a mobile suit rookie pilot if he happens to be young and handsome.Seabook turns out to be a Newtype as well, which is the equivalent of a coordinator. Something special is that his mother had a hand in producing F91 as well. Lol, that made my day.
I was pleasantly surprised to see the F91 in action. The animation in the film is actually good. Smooth and fluid, though it is a 21 years old film. Btw i watched the film on youtube, some guy managed to upload the entire film.
Before i carry on i must give a word of warning. If i will rate this firm, i will say that it is only for 17 years old and above. No, not nudity, no nudity inside, but violence. I have watched gundam seed and 00 and currently watching wing, but none portray death especially civilian deaths as disturbing as this. Not sure if that is the right word to use, but i was pretty shocked at the film's beginning when some of Seabook's friend died in rather gruesome deaths.
One lady got hit by the ammo from a MS and died.( pic above). yes from this pic it does look rather funny but u should see the film to find our for urself. (Dun worry, no disturbing pics in my blog)
To lighten up the mood, here is pic of two of Seabook's friends. One thing i dislike about the movie is that some of the characters look goofy and kinda retarded. Maybe this is the 90s look i dun know but oh well.
As mentioned above i am currently watching Gundam wing series. I thought Relena was the most irritating female character in gundam history. After watching this movie, i guess Bandai didn't do a good job with female characters before the famous Lacus clyne that we all loved. Anw this pic is Cecily, Seabook's girlfriend. She is irritating and argg, i dun know what is she doing throughout the movie.
One more thing about the cast, i dun know why in the world a baby ( that unfortunate lady's baby) is in the movie throughout. The plot was rushed already. No need to add fillers like this.
The villain iron mask had great promise. He actually wanted to eliminate much of humanity as part of his Go-Green efforts, if i had understood the story correctly. However, due to the plot rush he seemed like a joke to me.
To make him more ridiculous, this is the final boss of the the movie. A unique design i will say. Not too important since he didn't last too long before F91 showed off his gimicks and single-handedly kicked his ass.
Just when i thought this was the limit, the producers in in that era decided to crank up the goofiness level. Iron mask can control the Giant flower MS with wires attached to his head(or mask).
Another major complain i have is regarding Cecily. She spent half the movie with her grandfather and iron mask, got her own Mobile suit which actually looks cool, then at the first moment she saw Seabook she defected. ROFL. I give full marks for the comedy factor here.
Then, perhaps to balance out violence shown in the movie's beginning or just to promote the F91, the ending had a search sequence which had Seabook trying to find Cecily that was lost in space. Seabook in F91, with his mother's encouragement, literally sensed Cecily's location. If this movie review is in a magazine, there will need to be a flap-out for the cheesiness factor.
Credits roll, and we come to one of my favourite part of the movie. The ending song-Eternal Wind ~ Hohoemi wa Hikaru Kaze no Naka (Smile in the Shining Wind) by Hiroko Moriguchi is very fitting and soothing.
Verdict: Pros: 1. F91
2. Ending song
3. Overall MS design except the giant flower boss.
4. Decent animation for its age.
2. Some goofy character design.
3. Horrible plot rush.
4. Cecily.
My score: 4.0/ 10
After watching the film i am rather tempted to buy the MG F91. Only thing is that the F91 comes with an action base. And that the action base is that giant flower rafflesia boss mobile suit unit. I am not interested in that flower thing and hence dun really want to pay for that extra plastic.
Please do leave comments, on what you think of the movie and what you think of my other gunpla review.
Coming soon will be MG freedom and NG Saviour. Stay tuned and do let me know if there is any improvements u think can be made.

well, I actually really liked this film, obviously I wish it had been an OVA as it IS rushed, but I thought the art was incredible, in some points the detail was like a whole scene of the quality of the Zeta intros (which I love the style of).
