Mg Sandrock EW (Part 2)

Continuing my look at Sandrock's articulation, the model can reach the handle of the heat shotels very easily, though you have to flip out the handle yourself beforehand.

 

All armed up with heat shotels , beam spray gun and the shield. I used some of the dry transfer decals, mainly the red ones. I did not bother applying any of the katoki style stickers, as they do not stay on well and i am horrible with stickers. I
I must say that i love the overall look of the sandrock more than i expected. The subtle colour scheme, the arabian design, and the gorgeous shoulders make this kit a fantastic master grade which will almost certainly be getting a Kai version. In fact, its shoulders armour already has a slit hidden within which will probably be for the Sandrock Kai's atmospheric cloak. Gundams with cloaks=Win.

4. Poses

The 2 heat shotels can also be connected for a major overkill gundam win.

The poses that this gundam can pull off looks incredible, despite its limited articulation for the arms. It is also fairly easy to get it to the pose you want. Only real complain is finger swapping is troublesome.

5. Sturdiness

There are no back heavy issues, no falling parts and weak ankles.
However, the wrists section seems to be a little weak as the arms tend to sag after holding the heat shotels for a while. I applied the school/home use white glue to the ball joint to fix this.

The cross crusher combo, while can be supported reasonably well, does seem to put a lot of stress on the arms of sandrock.

The heat shotels are attached via a very small attachment point which seems to be not strong enough for prolonged usage.

6. Conclusion

Positives:

1. Beautiful arabian design and incredible details, especially in the shoulders and waist. 

2. Subtle colour scheme and the tone of white are great.

3. Heat shotels come with the normal gray version and the heated up clear red version. 

4. I do not really know why but the beam spray gun is wonderful.

5. Easy to get the model into nice poses.

Negatives:

1. Weak wrists. ( I hope this is just a problem with my kit?)

2. Shield seems under detailed compared to the rest of the kit. It needs a clear red part, grey underside and maybe white parts for the little strips.

3. Finger swapping may not appeal to everyone.

Details: 8/10 Other than the shield, the kit is extremely well detailed.

Articulation: 6/10 Limited arm articulation

Sturdiness: 7/10 A pretty sturdy kit, weak wrists though.

Poseability: 9/10 Epic posing options, heat shotels look cool no matter how you position them.

A top notch kit with a few flaws here and there. Only reason anyone would not want to get this is because they dislike gundam wing or its pilot.
